Hands-on: The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is really great and really expensive

As it appears to be, Samsung is so excited about its latest flagship Android tablet that it couldn’t help but make an announcement about it today prior to the Galaxy Note 10 event taking place next week. Before now, Samsung’s newest flagship tablet used to be the Galaxy Tab S4 launched in 2018. Today, however, this phone became only but the predecessor of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 which has currently assumed that title. No doubt, Samsung is full of super pleasant surprises. But, this one doesn’t come cheap. First, you need to check out some of this phone’s outrageously top-level feature. And then, you surely wouldn’t be shocked at its ‘bank-blowing’ cost.

To start with, what practically blew my mind going through the Galaxy Tab S6 specs is the fact that despite having the same display size and resolution as in its predecessor – Galaxy Tab S4 – it weighs significantly lighter than it and has its overall footprint appreciably smaller than it. Thus, while the Galaxy Tab S4 weighs 482g, the Galaxy Tab S6 weighs a lesser 420g. The new tablet therefore offers a 10.5-inch AMOLED display with a 2,560 × 1,600 resolution like its predecessor.

Moreover, this phone comes with a dual rear-camera setup respectively; a 13-megapixel main sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. For a Samsung tablet, this dual rear-camera system was only anticipated until the Galaxy Tab S6 came along. It also features an 8-megapixel front camera that supports facial recognition.

And of course, we don’t expect this phone to be powered by a processor any lesser than its predecessor’s. The Samsung Galaxy S6, however, is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor which is a more superior and faster one. It’s sad but it’s true anyway, unlike the Galaxy Tab S4, the Galaxy Tab S6 doesn’t come with a headphone jack this time.

On the other hand, with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, you can expect four sound AKG-tuned speakers and a USB port. Hurray! It is no longer compulsory that you acquire the keyboard cover before you can use the S pen. The S Pen holds firmly to a rear mounted-groove that magnetically keeps it steadily at the rear. Therefore, the S Pen is included in the box free of charge.

This phone also houses 6 or 8GB RAM, 128 or 256GB of expandable storage, and a 7,040mAh battery has got its back. To top it all up, the Galaxy Tab S6 sports Android 9 Pie underneath One UI. This awesome tablet has also been equipped with support for Samsung Dex and Bixby and four pogo pins to use with the optional keyboard cover.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 – Price & Availability

The tradition of selling the Samsung Tab keyboard cover separately was followed up to this new Samsung device. Without the Keyboard, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 sells for a starting price of $650. The keyboard cover will cost you a $180 extra to the original cost making a grand total of $830. Going forward, it will be available in Wi-Fi-only and LTE variants. And as for the colors available, the Galaxy Tab S6 will be available in Cloud Blue, Rose Blush, and Mountain Grey.
