8 Effective Cures for Eczema

Eczema is a serious skin condition that affects millions of people. Like acne, eczema can be very embarrassing because of the itchiness, scaly rash and scars that develop on your skin. To use this natural remedy, coat the affected area with vegetable shortening, seal off with plastic wrap and secure using surgical tapes. For an effective result leave wrap for 3-4 hours to allow sufficient moisturising of the affected area. Repeat daily until scars, itching and rash disappear.

Application of Bath Recipes

Bath recipes are another common way to rid your skin from eczema. This recipe may include adding a cup of mineral or vegetable oil to your warm bathing water to moisturise your dry scaly skin. Other times, you can mix two teaspoons of olive oil with milk, and add to your bathing water; this helps soothe and moisturise your dry skin. Another home remedy that cures eczema is oatmeal baths. Oatmeal baths is a well-known home remedy that soothes itching; to apply, grind plain oatmeal, using blender and sprinkle in your warm bath water.

Eating Turmeric

Turmeric spice is an excellent natural home remedy that soothes and cures eczema. Studies have proven that this spice reduces skin inflammation including eczema. What makes this spice potent is that it contains antioxidant that protects skin as well as improves wound healing. To effectively treat eczema using turmeric spice, take two spoons of turmeric spice daily.

Applying Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has a variety of use. Besides the fact that it is an excellent kitchen staple, apple cider vinegar is reputed to soothe the skin to prevent inflammation, rashes and burns. This effective remedy can be used to treat eczema by applying apple cider vinegar directly on affected areas using cotton balls. However, you must refrain from using this remedy if you have a cracked or bleeding skin, as applying vinegar can lead to irritation of that area.

There are steroids creams, ointment and oral steroid medications that are effective in relieving itching and inflammation from eczema. Although these drugs have proven very effective in treating eczema, steroids have side effects like skin thinning which may prevent long time usage.

Immuno-modulators

This treatment involves using creams like calcineurin, pimecrolimus and tacrolimus known to increase the body’s immune system response. Although this medication does not have clear cut side effects like steroids treatment, it may not be suitable for long time usage.

Applying Olive Oil

Olive oil is a superb natural home remedy that cures eczema; this oil effectively tackles eczema because it contains omega 3 fatty acid reputed to inhibit skin inflammation and itchiness. To treat eczema using this home remedy, rub and massage olive oil into affected areas to moisturise dry and itchy skin.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a popularly referred to as a miraculous natural remedy that treats almost anything.  Gently rubbing few drops of tea tree oil mixed with olive oil on the affected area at least twice daily will rid your skin of eczema or other similar skin conditions.
